With Hennessy PARADIS IN PARADISE

A once in a lifetime dinner at the top of the world to extol the rare virtues of the Hennessy Paradis cognac.

Paradis in paradise

Changbai, which translates to “ever-white mountain” in English, is a majestic mountain range located in north-eastern China. It was here that Hennessy hosted an exceptional event last December in honour of its fine Paradis cognac. Guests feasted on traditional meals all weekend, from dumplings and hotpot to a Manchu-style formal dinner the second evening. This the region is home to the Manchu people, the founders of the Qing Dynasty. Breathtaking views of snow-topped peaks and misty horizons contrasted with the brilliant blue of the sky. The evening was enjoyed without anything superfluous, including artistic performances, that might distract from the beauty of the natural surroundings this magical, winter wonderland had to offer. The picturesque mountain was indeed a rare setting for this rarest of cognacs.

Hennessy Paradis

High in the welcoming mountains of Changbai lays the multi-starred, world-class resort where staunch devotees of Hennessy Paradis came together to share a moment of cognac tasting to appreciate this extraordinary blend of rare and old eaux-de-vie. The settings were exceptional. It was here that guests were able to experience a three-day Hennessy Paradis tasting overlooking a frozen lake, while marvelling at the winter scenery around them. Temperatures dipped below -20°C. The taste of Hennessy Paradis actually evolved with the freezing temperatures outside, releasing even sweeter honey notes and nutty flavours. At the farewell lunch, a delicious Korean-style barbecue was served featuring local Changbai-sourced ingredients as a salute to the mountain range’s shared border with North Korea. What a marvellous and once-in-a-lifetime way to enjoy the harmonious finesse found in every sculpted cognac decanter of Hennessy Paradis. Truly at the summit of good taste.

HENNESSY PARADIS

Hennessy Paradis is defined by its graceful character and immediately delights with its rich copper colour. It is a perfectly balanced blend, both voluptuous and round, and combines smoothness and strength with a silky texture. Naturally, it has a flavourful and deep, persistent finish.

Hennessy Paradis was created by Maurice Fillioux in 1979 as a tribute to symphonic music. He compared the blend to ‘a symphonic orchestra’, as “classical music that takes you away and connects with your emotions.” The number of instruments in an orchestra is not necessarily a measure of its success, but rather the purity of sound it creates and the virtuosity of the conductor. The same is true for Hennessy Paradis, a union of exceptional eaux-de-vie selected for their individual qualities to work together to create a harmonious and graceful cognac.
